EThe Bride's Style

noviThe type of wedding dress

There are different styles of dress depending on the personality of the bride. She may be a Classic Bride, who opts for the traditional, for that which never goes out of fashion, simple but elegant and sophisticated; this type of bride will always choose a design with a boat neck or V-neckline accompanied by a veil and jewelry such as pearls or diamonds. A Romantic Bride is one who is delicate and simple, they usually choose simple wedding dresses made of tulle or chiffon with the most romantic embroidery with floral motifs. The Bohemian Bride is the one who gets married on the beach or outdoors, opts for a boho dress, to give a hippie style to her look, with light and airy fabrics, and accessories such as floral crowns. You are a Vintage Bride if you love old styles, lace and Victorian dresses, these look for the most spectacular fabric, even inherited, that gives that vintage air to their look. The Modern Bride is the one who wants to give an avant-garde touch to her look, she is daring and opts for asymmetrical cuts in her dress, even short dresses or large slits. However, the Minimal Bride is the one who opts for discreet dresses with a straight silhouette and clean lines, a round or V-neckline and long or French sleeves.

On the other hand, the dress depends on the cut it has, it can be categorized as a Mermaid Cut Dress, it is one of the most preferred, it is fitted to the hips and then falls in a voluminous V cut simulating the tail of a mermaid; it is suitable for the most daring brides who want to highlight their hips and flat stomach, however, it shortens the figure so it is not recommended for short girls. The Princess Cut Dress, is a model made up of a bodice fitted to the waist and a skirt with a lot of volume, it is ideal for girls with wide hips and thighs, especially for those with a pear shape, however, it also favors those who have small hips and want to give more volume to that area. The A-line Dress, is very similar to the previous one, except that the skirt is much less voluminous, from the waist it opens gradually in a triangular line in the form of an A; this classic style suits all types of women and is perfect for those with an inverted triangle body. Finally, the Empire Cut Dress follows straight lines from the chest area to the feet, and as it does not mark the curves, it is great for girls with a straight figure.

What are the styles of wedding dress?

This dress has a shape that hugs the body at the top and gradually widens towards the bottom, forming an A-line silhouette. Inspired by the princess cut, A-line dresses have a less voluminous skirt that gradually opens out from the waist into a triangular line. It is one of our most popular silhouettes and is highly recommended as a starting point for brides looking for something special but restrained with the possibility of adding a double skirt. It is a simple and flattering style of wedding dress for most women's figures or bodies.

One of the most desirable and sensual silhouettes. It is a fitted wedding dress from the bust to the knees and it falls widening to the floor, reminiscent of a mermaid's tail. It is suitable for the most daring brides who want to highlight their hips and silhouette, that is, it is perfect for showing off a woman's curvy figure. However, it shortens the figure, so we do not recommend it for short brides.

Also known as a Cinderella dress, this style features a full, voluminous skirt that flares out from the waist, often with a fitted bodice. It is in high demand and looks good on all body types, but is especially suited to concealing the hips of women with large or very small hips. It is ideal for formal weddings and provides a royal look, and we use it on the catwalk because it is especially striking.

This style of wedding dress is characterized by its timeless elegance and traditional details. They usually have fitted bodices, wide skirts, and often incorporate sleeves and trains and allow for fabric mixes as they make them more eye-catching. The classic style does not refer to a particular silhouette, but to a way of constructing the wedding dress. For example, they are usually complemented with family tiaras or small jewelry. It is one of the dresses that we are most asked for in design appointments. And it is a look that never goes out of style, it is perfect for formal and traditional weddings. Timeless elegance.

This style has a high waist cut just below the bust or chest, with the skirt falling gently down. It is ideal for brides who want a more fluid and comfortable look. It can be a very elegant wedding dress as it does not show curves. It has been one of our most requested dresses for a long time.

It is a broad style. Modern Brides lean towards a less traditional look, whether it be short dresses, cross-cut lines or colors other than the classic bridal white. Modern wedding dresses incorporate contemporary design elements or rarely seen details. They may include unusual fabrics, asymmetrical cuts and unique details that reflect current trends. In our fashion shows we transform any of the above styles into modern wedding dresses.

In most cases, civil brides who do not have a romantic wedding ceremony opt for minimalist or discreet wedding dress styles. As the name suggests, it is a style with very clean lines, long or French sleeves and a straight silhouette. The fabrics are “monotonous”; we use plain silk stitches or with a very subtle pattern. It is a versatile style as it can also serve as a second wedding dress or pre-wedding dress.

Pre-wedding dresses are designed for events surrounding the wedding, such as the engagement party or the pre-wedding party the day before. They tend to be much less formal or pretentious and can vary greatly in style from cocktail length, midi, or mini.

The Second Wedding Dress is an additional dress that the bride changes into for the reception or the party after the ceremony. The styles are also very different, but they are usually more comfortable and lighter than the main one. We are making quite a few of them lately and luckily for a bridal fashion designer, brides here tend to be much more daring in their designs.

Some example compositions that you can try in our ateliers on the day of your first appointment:

composicion vestido novia

We have brides who come to us and know exactly what they want: they explain it to us, we advise them and we draw it.There are others who need to see themselves in the different options that we recommend, and that is why we want to explain to you how we create or compose a Light Wedding Dress layer by layer. The overskirt is very common: many of our brides like the idea of creating a detachable dress, in this way, at the time of the ceremony they wear a more conservative dress and at the time of the banquet or the party the overskirt and sometimes the sleeves are removed to show off a different design. As for the neckline of the shoulder (not included as a separate section), brides take much more risks this season, creating very deep necklines, in the shape of a V or square. The veil is almost always made of tulle, although there are various types of tulle fabric and depending on the design of the veil, there will be one fabric that is more recommended than another. Most brides tend to opt for this accessory to look more like brides; However, more and more women prefer not to wear it, and complement the dress with some volume in the form of bows, ribbons or cropped jackets.

What tones?

And the best shades of white for the Wedding Dress

PURE WHITE A bluish and sparkling white. It is the white of communion dresses. Perfect for dark-skinned brides.

SNOW WHITE It is a radiant white but without that bluish hue, the color of snow. Suitable for brides with dark skin tone.

OFF WHITE This is the tone of white that most brides use. It greatly favors, especially, brides with a complexion that is neither very light nor very dark.

PEARL Close to vanilla tone. It is an elegant and very fine tone. This tone is the most used by brides over 40 years old. Ideal for women who have darker skin.

IVORY It is closer to beige. It is one of the most flattering shades of white since it is the warmest. Ideal for very fair skin.

CHAMPAGNE It is a soft golden tone. Suitable for brides with dark skin tone.

NUDE It is the color of the skin, it is not usually used as the main tone for the dress but it is used for combinations, with embroidery or lace that simulate a tattoo effect.

POWDERED PINK It is widely used in wedding dresses with a vintage feel. It is a pink with a mix of beige and white, very soft. Ideal for brides with lighter skin.

05. The Veil

The wedding veil is not just an accessory, but an element loaded with symbolism and meaning that intertwines love, tradition and superstition. It has come a long way throughout history, going from being a symbol of purity and modesty in ancient times to becoming a manifestation of status and tradition in later times. Nowadays things have changed, and while it is true that the veil is still a tradition in religious weddings, it can also be used in civil weddings, opening up a range of possibilities in terms of veil styles and types of fabric.

Mantilla Bridal Veil

Among the various types of veil, the Mantilla stands out for its beauty and cultural significance. It is a traditional Spanish veil characterized by its intricate lace and oval shape. It is generally placed on the head, covering the shoulders and cascading to the floor. It provides an air of romanticism and sophistication, ideal for brides who want a classic and timeless look. It is perfect for formal and religious weddings, especially in churches or cathedrals.

Short Bridal Veil

The Short Bridal Veil, also known as the Blusher Veil, usually falls just above the shoulders or to the elbow. Its length and lightness make it practical and comfortable, allowing the bride to move easily. In addition, the short veil is perfect for modern brides looking for a touch of elegance without excess. This type of veil is ideal for less formal or outdoor weddings, such as ceremonies in gardens, beaches or civil weddings.

novia velada

novia velo clásico

Cathedral Bridal Veil

The Embroidered Tulle Veil, also known as the Cathedral Veil, is one of the longest and most dramatic. It extends from the bride's head to several meters behind her, creating a stunning effect as she walks down the aisle. The embroidered details on the tulle add a touch of luxury and elegance, making the bride feel like a true princess. This type of veil is perfect for formal and extravagant weddings in majestic locations.

Classic Bridal Veil

The Classic Bridal Veil is the most versatile and can vary in length from the Cathedral Veil that measures several meters to the Waist Veil that rests halfway down the bride's body. It is usually made of simple tulle, without embroidery or additional details, allowing the wedding dress to take center stage. It is perfect for brides who want an elegant and simple look that works well with different types or styles of wedding dresses. This type of veil is ideal for any type of wedding, since its simplicity adapts to different styles and environments.

Bride Evening

On the other hand, the term Veiled Bride refers to the practice of covering the bride's face with a veil during the ceremony. Regardless of whether it is a short or long veil, since this veil can be of any length, it is usually light and translucent. At Claro we like to put it with a certain body so that it does not fall on the face and bother the bride. The tradition of the veiled bride symbolizes purity and modesty. This style is ideal for traditional and religious ceremonies where the reveal of the bride's face has special meaning.

The Wedding Veil is a completely iconic bridal accessory that adds a touch of mystery, elegance and tradition to any wedding dress. As for the fabric for the veil, the ideal is silk tulle, which provides lightness, a perfect drape and the appropriate semi-transparency to be able to see the bride and for the dress to be the protagonist. However, each of the veils we have seen can be personalized with different fabrics, additions or appliqués. As we see in these examples, we can change to a fabric with more personality such as plumeti or combine the tulle itself with different types of lace and doilies. But, you could also choose to add more risky details such as feathers or tulle ropes, providing great volume and a unique personality to the veil.

06. Other Accessories

guantes para novia

Gloves

An accessory that will enhance the bridal look, filling it with its own style, and very successful at a wedding during the winter season. Lace or silk are the most used, especially in vintage wedding dresses; but you will also see them in elastic or transparent fabric; with bows, pearls or 3D flowers; in velvet, chiffon, organza or plumeti,... You just have to make sure that the fabric and style coordinates well with that of the dress.

lencería novia

Lingerie

The ideal is to think about a more comfortable and natural outfit to wear during the wedding and another more elegant and daring outfit for the wedding night; although you can always opt for a single set that combines both characteristics. You should take into account the dress you are wearing, to be careful with the cuts and necklines, in addition to making sure that the underwear is not visible or transparent, opting for nude or white tones.

can can

Can Can

The canines have different patterns and qualities, which adapt to each dress. The mermaid-type can-can is tight from the hip to the knee and with volume at the bottom; The single-hoop can can has several layers of tulle from the hip, perfect for A-line and empire lines; The 2 or 3-ring can can is ideal for princess-cut dresses and non-gauzy fabrics; The can can neoprene petticoat helps to achieve the perfect line, for drapey dresses and airy fabrics.

tocado nupcial

bridal headdress

It doesn't matter if you choose an elegant high bun, a semi-updo or a simple natural hairstyle, you can add a suitable bridal headdress. We find many types, from original headdresses with fantasy shapes and elements (flowers, shells, feathers, raffia...); flower crowns for the most bohemian and rustic ones; cold porcelain headdresses with a handmade and romantic aesthetic; vintage fabric or metal headbands; or bright tiaras or brooches that provide elegance and light of their own.

vestido de novia con cinturón

Belt

It is one of the most versatile and flattering accessories for the bride, which allows you to break the sobriety of a suit, adjusting and stylizing the figure. It can be incorporated into the design of the dress, or it can be completely separate. They can be smooth, sober and discreet; originals with striking brooches or metallic appearance and satin edges, belts with straps and bows, belts with rhinestones, buckles or 3D flowers...

vestido de novia con capa larga

Bridal cape

In addition to being one of the essential items for many brides, in the winter months and at religious weddings they have a great function; with the advantage of being able to dispense with this arrival at the ceremony and give the look a total change. They are available in various designs, fabrics and shapes; They can be voluminous, thick or light, airy, smooth or lace, with flowers or 3D elements, glitter, feathers...
