Wedding Planner Sevilla: Meet Love a Tope with Asunta chairwoman

Wedding Planner Sevilla: Asunta the Love a Tope CEO, tells about all details for their wedding organizations.

Love a Tope is the Wedding Planner company of sevilian business woman Asunta, whom we met at our bridal atelier in Seville. We share almost everything we talked about in a very pleasant chat, where Asunta informed us of very interesting and surprising things about weddings.

The only thing we want you to know before this 10-minute read is that Asunta is an ultra-friendly girl, with very good energy (and a lot), and it is impossible for us to convey with this article how pleasant a conversation with her is. That said, we leave the introduction for later and go straight to the point:

Asunta · Wedding Planner Sevilla

Asunta · Wedding Planner Sevilla

Tell us Asunta, who are your couples in the wedding planner projects you have in the company?

  • They are mainly international clients; we have managed to position ourselves as a good reference for some of the foreigners who are looking for a good wedding planning company in Andalusia or Spain. Although, of course, we have many Spanish weddings, the balance tilts towards foreign weddings, and even the Spanish weddings we do have some culturally very cosmopolitan points.

If you compare your Spanish weddings with foreign weddings... is there much difference in the type of wedding?

Asunta explains to us that THE TRADITIONAL AMERICAN WEDDING would be the most common base stereotype of her types of weddings, and it is really very different from the traditional Spanish wedding. In the American wedding, there is a symbolic ceremony that rarely takes place in a church, but in spectacularly beautiful places like in the movies, and a close friend or family member of the couple is in charge of being the master or mistress of ceremonies. The interesting thing about this type of ceremony is that this person truly knows the couple's life and tells stories that genuinely move everyone. They are beautiful ceremonies.

Then they share dinner with the open bar... everything is much more “flexible” and in terms of decoration there are impressive creative flourishes and quite an investment to make these versatile spaces impressive. Also, the speeches during dinner are fundamental!

It must be enriching to know the protocols of a wedding in such different cultures. Can you tell us a wedding tradition from a foreign culture that is very different from ours?

Very enriching, one of the things we like the most! And it gives us the opportunity to meet Americans, Canadians, Australians, Indians, Indonesians, French, English, Irish, Scots, Dutch, Germans, Lithuanians, Norwegians, Peruvians, Cubans, Mexicans, Persians, Venezuelans... nothing more enriching than discovering cultures different from ours!

Many know the advantages of celebrating a wedding here, mainly the weather, but also our land, our estates with beautiful surroundings, and of course the gastronomy: a catering quality that would be hard to find in their countries and at the price they pay here, impossible.

For example, in Hindu culture, they celebrate the Mehndi (a ritual performed by the bride, her friends, and relatives where they decorate their hands and feet with Henna days before the wedding) and the Sangeet (a pre-wedding party where all family members dance choreographies to traditional Hindu music).

A classic question: You've been doing this for 10 years, how did you start? Tell us a bit about the person behind the development of Love a Tope as a business. How did you start?

Just after my own wedding! I realized the many needs and difficulties that couples had when organizing a wedding, as the wedding planner role was not as normalized as it is now. So after organizing my own wedding, and with my experience in event organization at the company where I had been until then, having previously studied business administration and management, I decided to take a chance: I went to Madrid for a year and a half to study a Master's in Wedding Design and Protocol, also lived in Vienna, and upon returning, I already had 18 couples who trusted me to organize their day.

And about me, well, I'm very entrepreneurial, enthusiastic, and with enough energy to organize more than 2 weddings a week... imagine! But beyond myself, what I'm beastly proud of is the team we've created: Teresa, Ana, Irene, and Bea. They are my Love a tope and the engine of my company.

We usually don't do more than 2 weddings a week, and we dedicate 3 people per wedding to have everything 100% under control.

And since we're talking about you, what do you like most about your job?

Getting to know new cultures and the dynamism of the type of work I do: meetings with new people, visiting estates, planning new projects, creativity... It’s a massive enrichment I would say every day in a lot of ways. Diversity, dynamism, literally I LOVE MY JOB.

Okay, now something that briefly touches us, haha: WEDDING DRESSES! What do you usually find?

Foreign brides usually wear a lot of lace and transparencies... It's a style we can define as more COMMERCIAL and really not the style of most Spanish brides. But they are very spectacular and beautiful brides. We have quite a few brides from you each season, among them one of my favorite brides ever, my dear Amanda.

-Ah, well, tell us about her!!! Claro Couture's Bride and Love a Tope's favorite!

Amanda is a vitamin person who, since we met her, we have kept in touch because she contributed so much to us emotionally that we will always carry her in our hearts.

She was a pre-pandemic bride who had to postpone her wedding and came to us with her half-finished wedding to change it completely. She wanted to do it all over again with us. During the pandemic, her perspective changed a bit and her priorities, so very coherently, she wanted to do her wedding with Love a Tope totally different from what she had previously organized.

Our proposal was something much more urban: a more intimate, elegant, and chic wedding, an urban wedding that exuded elegance, and when she arrived, she only had one clear thing: the wedding dress had to be by Fernando Claro. She is a woman who knows what she wants, and this was not up for discussion!

Her dress was breathtaking; I still remember seeing her arrive with her silhouette perfectly highlighted (incredible figure) and those puffed sleeves with a volume I had never seen on any of my brides, it had everything, but above all, you designed a dress that was VERY HER, and that was the most amazing, that she looked her best, was herself, and enjoyed her day posing with a smile because she knew how BEAUTIFUL she was.

Both dresses by CLARO. Above the Ceremony dress. Below, Amanda's Second Wedding Dress: The essential Emeral white fringe dress

We (the CLARO firm) always say that a wedding dress should match the type of wedding, and we usually ask, what kind of wedding is it. Here it was almost the opposite?!

Come on, we're almost done: Asunta, resolve briefly some main doubts that many brides are going to have:

  1. What is the most popular at a wedding or what would be most in demand?

  2. How far in advance should I hire a wedding planner?

  3. How much does it cost to have a top-notch wedding?

  4. How do I know what kind of wedding I should have?

  1. What is the most popular at a wedding or what would be most in demand?

A big party and a very elaborate decoration project. What is within the concept or item "the party" is increasingly important: the music, DJ, the bands, the party stage, the dance floor and the open bar, the entertainment, fire shows, aerials... In other words, other parts of the wedding are given less importance. Our couples literally want BIG PARTIES! BEAUTIFUL PARTIES!

  1. How far in advance should I hire a wedding planner?

2 years in advance mainly, we are already almost starting projects with clients for 2026, almost 2 years ahead. With 1 year or a year and a half it also works well. But there are weddings that have had to be done in 2 months, if there are gaps, of course! It depends on the couple's needs, we adapt!

  1. How much does it cost to have a top-notch wedding?

The ideal budget for 150 guests and without worrying too much about the limit, the ideal cost of the wedding celebration can be between €80,000 and €100,000. But really there is no minimum or maximum, it is super important THE WEDDING IDEA, NUMBER OF GUESTS, CITY, AND BUDGET TO SPEND... if the combination of parameters does not match, we honestly and transparently explain to the couple that those parameters will not be achieved and that priorities would need to be restructured to optimize the budget. But in most cases, we adapt the celebration to the budget without any problem.

  1. How do I know what kind of wedding I should have?

Very simple, we start with a What do you feel like? to both the Bride and the Groom. We try to ensure that both are satisfied with the proposals and agree. There are cases where one focuses a lot on the space, the decoration, and everything related to aesthetics and visuals. And the other on food, drink, music, and the party. And luckily, as I was telling you, the party and the enjoyment of their guests are the common denominator of both.

Asunta, it has been a real pleasure talking to you, here you have your home for when you need it, and if your brides want to look very very beautiful ?

Thank you very much for your time and see you soon!!!
